About:
British animation director Joanna Quinn is a world-renowned figure in the field of animation. Celebrated internationally for her exceptional drawing skills, vivid characterisations, and humour, Joanna’s work has left a significant mark on the industry. Her films and commercials have received many international awards, including four BAFTAs, three Emmys, and two Oscar® nominations.
Most recently, Joanna has been working with women animators in Gaza, who empower displaced children by making animated films. She led a global initiative called to ‘Gaza with Love’ which resulted in the production of over 330 films from 50 countries expressing support for the people of Gaza.

Saturday, May 9th: The Animated Secrets of Joanna Quinn
In this presentation I will take you on a journey from my graduation film Girls’ Night Out to the last Oscar nominated Affairs of the Art. I will explain my approach to making films and the stress of working on commercials. I’ll talk about my animation technique, the joys and pain of directing a team and my ever-increasing passion for drawing and animating. All illustrated with film clips, original artwork and the occasional embarrassing anecdote.
